Dear Friend,

Together we continue to make positive impacts in the lives of hundreds of refugees and immigrants across Colorado. In the face of cruel policies out of Washington, we persevere to create a community of care, together.

We are grateful for your support and to share some of the things your support makes possible. Since January our team has been doing incredible work, despite executive orders, stop work orders, furloughs, layoffs, and continuing fear and uncertainty for our staff and clients, including:

  • 325 individuals in 14 CO counties helped with refugee cash assistance, finding a job, ESL class enrollment, SNAP and Medicaid, housing, learning to drive, school enrollment, mental health. In Fort Collins, we are serving 39 people
  • $74,865 in emergency housing assistance paid to landlords to keep people in their homes
  • 64 legal clients served, 56 applications submitted (green card, expedited TPS, other) filed, 22 for Fort Collins residents
  • 290 volunteer hours working with clients, assisting staff in all programs and contributing to events.
On February 25, 2025, three national and local faith-based refugee-serving agencies and nine individuals won a preliminary injunction in the case of Pacito v. Trump. The ruling came in the first lawsuit challenging President Trumpโ€™s Executive Order (EO) suspending the U.S. refugee resettlement program (USRAP), as well as the efforts by the Trump Administration to decimate USRAP by withholding critical, congressionally-appropriated funding for refugee processing and services. The litigation, filed in the Western District of Washington, asked the court to declare the EO illegal, to enjoin all implementation of the EO, and to restore refugee-related funding. The lawsuit was filed by the International Refugee Assistance Project (IRAP) on behalf of Church World Service (CWS), HIAS, and Lutheran
Community Services Northwest (LCSNW)โ€”whose ability to provide critical services to refugees in the United States and abroad has been severely inhibited by the suspension of USRAP and funding, as well as impacted individual plaintiffs, including refugees who had their travel to the United States canceled on short notice, families hoping to reunite after years of separation, and a local community sponsor.

In all of this, we stand with you, and together we’re making a difference in this heartbreaking landscape. Read below to learn ways you can get involved.
